No Problem. Last time I was by the club, they were still closed. About two
years ago this holiday season, someone broke in over a long weekend and did
severe vandalism to the facility. I was told that cement was poured into the
drains, toilets broken, a piece of heavy equipment that was behind the
building was brought into the building to do extensive damage. After the
bars were pulled out of position and attempts were made to pull the balcony
down, the water was turned on, and with the drains and toilets full of
concrete, the building flooded. The water running out into the street was
how the towns streets and sanitation department discovered the vandalism.
The streets and san people initially thought that a water main had broken,
but then saw that the water was coming from inside of Finke's from
underneath the door. There has been talk recently that they would re-open,
but a dispute over an adjacent lot has left that with some question, as the
lot is owned by the local utility who no longer wants it being used by the
business for parking. This dispute leaves the club with little on-site
parking and would have a serious impact on the clubs ability to generate
enough revenue to justify their existance. Really ashame, as this was a
beautiful room for live entertainment. The room would hold almost a
thousand people I believe, and it was set up very well and had great
potential. Anyway, that's the story for now, should they re-open, I will try
to remember to drop you a line.
